The following was the Laboratory Immersions Program for 2011 and is provided for reference.


July 20–22, 2011 at Bethel University
St. Paul, MN

Immerse yourself in one of these experiments:

The mentors for these experiments are Chad Hoyt, Keith Stein, and Richard Peterson, all of Bethel University.

August 8–10, 2011, at Buffalo State College
Buffalo, NY

Immerse yourself for three days in one of these experiments:

The mentors for these experiments are Michael DeMarco and Ram Rai of Buffalo State College, Jonathan Reichert of Teachspin, Inc., and David Van Baak of Calvin College.

August 10–12, 2011 at Caltech
Pasadena, CA

Immerse yourself for three days in one of these experiments:

Eric Black and Ken Libbrecht are the mentors for these experiments.

August 15–16, 2011, at Reed College
Portland, OR

Learn ways to include LabVIEW-based instruction in your lab curricula:

Thanks to a generous donation from National Instruments, each participant will receive a myDAQ data acquisition (a $175 value) to keep! John Essick will lead this session.

August 15–17, 2011, at Colgate University
Hamilton, NY

Experience single-photon quantum mechanics experiments:

August 18–20, 2011, at the University of Rochester
Rochester, NY

Experience single-photon quantum mechanics experiments:

The mentor for these experiments is Svetlana Lukishova of Rochester University.

Registration is $150.00 per experiment and includes lunch and one evening meal. Travel and Housing costs are the responsibility of the participants; suggested housing arrangements are posted here.
